April 29

How and why did rules of painting and sculpture change radically throughout the 20th century? Through close looking and conversation, we'll explore how artists departed from traditional materials and subject matter while grappling with the modern world. We’ll see works by Picasso, Kandinsky, Mondrian and others. The tour is led by Estelle Quain, docent for the National Gallery and FHNN board member.
Tour will be in the East Building of the National Gallery; 10:30 to 11:30 am, followed by lunch in the cafe.
Carpools can be arranged for those that cannot take the metro. Leaving Friendship Heights at 9:30am and returning around 1:00pm
