Out and About: Senior Cinema at the Avalon Followed by Optional Lunch (members and volunteers only)
About this event
Avalon Sr. Cinema Plus Optional Lunch (members and volunteers only)
Thursday, April 16
10:30 am-2:00 pm
In this month's movie, Project Hail Mary, science teacher Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling) wakes up on a spaceship light years from home with no recollection of who he is or how he got there. As his memory returns, he begins to uncover his mission: solve the riddle of the mysterious substance causing the sun to die out. He must call on his scientific knowledge and unorthodox ideas to save everything on Earth from extinction… but an unexpected friendship means he may not have to do it alone.
USA Today says “(???? out of four) Spectacular! Rousing ‘Project Hail Mary’ is 2026’s first great movie! Funny and dramatic when it needs to be as well as exceptionally rousing throughout, the movie perfectly captures the story of human resilience and interstellar bromance that Andy Weir’s 2021 brilliant novel did so well. ” – Brian Truitt, USA Today
This is a self-pay event. Tickets for seniors are $6. Lunch will be at Bread and Chocolate after the movie.
