About this event

Divine Children

Featuring Art from The Walters Art Museum

Thursday, December 11, 10:30 am
Open to All!

Jan Thorman, a long-time volunteer at the Walters Art Museum, and Jill Reynolds, former Walters’ docent and current guide with the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, will share images of divine children across time and cultures. They will invite us to consider how different cultures have portrayed divine children, how they compare to one another, and what we might learn about the culture from these images. The presentation pairs an image from Christianity with one from a different religion to show birth, infancy, Mom and child, and children at play. While the cultures and religions are very different, we will look for commonalities as well as contrasts in the different images.
