About this event
Join your FHNN friends for a hike along the C&O Canal towpath at Fletcher’s Cove.
- The walk: From Fletcher’s Cove, follow the towpath upstream for 1–1½ miles, then return the same way—2–3 miles total.
- What makes it interesting: The historic canal, wooded scenery, and nearby Potomac River. Allow a little time to explore the cove itself.
- Footing: Mostly level, packed dirt and gravel; it can be muddy after rain.

- Carpool: leaving from Carlton at 8:45 am; email information@fhnn.org if you need a ride.
- Getting there: Search for Fletcher’s Boathouse, 4940 Canal Road NW. Estimate 10–15 minutes from Friendship Heights in light traffic, though traffic can push it longer. Parking is available. National Park Service visitor information.
